There are definitely pros and cons of each. I guess all I'm saying is that one isn't definitively better than the other. Myself and others prefer BotW's weapon mechanics and you and others prefer a system more similar to Skyrim's. The weapon durability in BotW isn't a "broken" or "wrong" system. It's just different..
