Unplug the vacuum hose and reconnect it to the distributor and take another timing reading at 3000 rpm. This should be at 50*. If not take a 3/32 allen wrench to the vacuum canister and turn the allen head screw clockwise to decrease and counter-clockwise to increase to obtain the correct setting. You will need a timing light with built in advance.I have a 85 C10 that came with the 305. Then it was swapped out with a GM 350 Crate motor.And a new quadrajet carburetor w/autochoke too.
