Local mechanic replaced crankshaft position sensor and all was good!Vehicle: 2011 Nissan Xterra Pro-4x (35k total miles) with lift and 295 tires. Have had lift and tires now about 30k no issues. When I start the Xterra I have the "Diff lock" and "VDC off" lights. As soon as I turn my wheel (about 45-90 degrees) the "diff lock" light turns off. Then the ABS, VDC Off, SLIP lights turn on.The VDC Off/SLIP lights stayed on the rest of the day. The next morning, they were off. If I figure it out, I'll post again. Sign in to reply. Hi Drew, I did some research and found that it has to do with the Steering angle sensor, it has to be recalibrated. this happens after you change your battery or disconnect ...Aug 7, 2013 · For what it's worth: A traction control system / vehicle dynamic control system malfunction will cause both the "VDC OFF" and the "SLIP" indicator lamps to light up. If wheel slip actually occurred, the light should extinguish on its own. The VDC OFF light should illuminate if you turn it off, or place it in 4LO. Most alignment shops won't do this. If the steering angle sensor is way off, the VDC light will stay on and the system will not work at all. If it is only slightly off, it can confuse the computer. The VDC system uses input from the steering sensor, wheel speed sensors, and yaw rate/side/decel g sensor.Begin with the engine at normal operating temperature. turn the key "on" and "off" twice ending in the off position. apply the parking brake. Move the transmission lever to Park (auto) or Neutral (manual) with the 4wd switch turned to the 2wd position, turn the key "on" the 4wd warning light should come on for a sec or two then go off ....
